This  is an excellent site that is free to use, with access to a huge database of resources for researching names and other extensive information, including articles, research guidance, the Research Wiki, forums, and online classes. It is user friendly and offers Live chats with a research support center. All resources are free including family tree & pedigree downloads. You can share research and preserve your family history in a pedigree resource file. It is a program that is broad enough for people of all nationalities to use to further their genealogy research.

Bureau County Historical Society

They have both museum exhibits and a research library, with a focus on bureau County History. They also have a 17,000+ glass plate negative collection of photographs taken during 1860’s -1910 by Henry Immke, a local photographer; these negatives have been cataloged and entered into a searchable database.

Bureau County History and Genealogy Trails

This is a small local group that provides consistently updated and relevant records in regards to anniversaries, county history, photos, newspapers ,cemetery, marriage, birth, death, military and family history.

Illinois Vital Records

The Illinois Dept of Public Health holds birth, death, an d other vital records collected by the Department that date back to 1916. If the event  that you are researching took place in Illinois and you are seeking a copy of the record, the county and circuit clerks may have the document on file.

The U.S. GEN WEB Project

This database is provided by a non-profit group of volunteers working together to provide free genealogy websites for genealogical research in every county and every state of the United States. Organization is by county and state, and this website provides links to all the state genealogy websites which, in turn, provide gateways to the counties.

Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library
